Representing 6, 7 and 8!

Using ten frames for the first time!!!
Today in maths we learned how to represent the numbers 6, 7 and 8 using careful counting and one to one correspondence.
We started by looking at number cards and counting together using our fingers. We talked about counting slowly, touching each object and stopping at the correct number.
Then we used ten frames for the very first time. We felt very grown up. The children chose a number card and placed objects onto the ten frame one at a time, counting aloud as they worked.
Step 1: Pick a number
Step 2; Build the number
Mrs Piper was so proud of how carefully everyone counted and how well they stopped at the correct number.
How you can help at home
You can practise by asking your child to count out 6, 7 or 8 toys, socks or pieces of pasta and check that they stop at the right number.
