Astro Girl: “I Can Do That!”

Today we FINALLY read our story Astro Girl! We talked together about what happens in the story and the children shared their ideas about Astrid and noticed how she keeps saying “I can do that”, helping us think about her behaviour and personality.

We explored the word determined and talked about what it means to keep trying and not give up. The children made links to their own experiences and shared times when they had been determined too.

We finished by learning more about Astrid’s mum and her job as an astronaut, which led us to start thinking of questions we would like to ask her. This learning will help us get ready for our special call, where the children will share their questions and ideas with Astrid’s mum. 🚀

You could talk with your child about Astrid and what it means to be determined. Ask them what they would like to be when they grow up and what they might need to practise or keep trying at. :)
