Year 1 Artists at Work

Exploring the art of Paul Klee for Art to Start
We were so excited to welcome our grown-ups into class to join us for our very first art to start session.
We explored the artist Paul Klee and looked closely at one of his famous paintings, Senecio. The children noticed the bold colours and geometric shapes that make his work so striking.
To begin our new topic Me and My Place, we created our own artwork in the style of Paul Klee. First, we used crayons to draw self-portraits. Then, with sponges and paints in red, yellow, and orange, we carefully stamped geometric shapes to bring our portraits to life.
It was such a joyful way to start our learning journey this term – full of colour, creativity, and fun!
