Reading in Year 1

Reading at home in year 1
Reading books are changed in line with your child’s Read Write Inc. group. (You can find information about which group they are in on the sheet stuck inside their reading record.)
We understand that some children may not always enjoy reading the same book more than once. However, as part of the Read Write Inc program, re-reading is very important. It helps children to build fluency, confidence, and deeper comprehension; they are not just decoding the words, but really understanding the story.
Please make sure your child’s reading book and record are in school every day as an adult at school reads with them daily, and to ensure books are changed on the correct day.
