Reading for Pleasure

Reading for Pleasure in Year 1
In Year 1, we are developing a real love for reading! We enjoy spending time in our cosy book corners, choosing stories to share with friends, and adding to our display of books we have enjoyed together in class.
The Department for Education emphasises that reading for pleasure is strongly linked to academic success and wellbeing. Children who enjoy books are more likely to achieve well at school and develop a lifelong love of learning.
To help us keep building these positive reading habits, here’s a polite reminder: it is your child’s responsibility to take their reading books out in the morning so that they can be changed and read with. Reading folders should be in school every day.
