Team Amin-Welvens (Yr2)

This week, our Year 2 children took part in a Dance for Rights workshop as they prepared for the nationwide Dance for Rights event on Monday 7th July.

The workshop encouraged the children to think carefully about how movement can be used to express ideas and tell a story. They created a sequence of three movements, with each one representing something different about themselves. The first movement showed a hobby or interest, with children choosing activities such as football, baseball, cricket, swimming and crafting. The second movement reflected their personality, while the third represented a hope or dream for the future. We heard wonderful ideas, from becoming a YouTuber to dreams of winning races and taking on exciting challenges.

It was lovely to see the children using dance as a way to express themselves and share what is important to them. They listened carefully, practised their sequences and enjoyed watching each other's creative ideas.

On Monday 7th July, Years 2–5 will join thousands of children across the country in the Dance for Rights event, livestreamed from the Royal Opera House, celebrating children's rights through movement. We are looking forward to taking part in this special event together.

A reminder that children should come to school on Monday 7th July wearing a T-shirt in their House colour, ready to take part in the performance.

What a lovely last library visit we had!

This week in Topic, we are exploring fashion over the years and how clothes have stayed the same and how they have changed as well! We have started to look at fashion styles with photos from the 1940s compared with the 21st century, and we have also started to reflect on just how many similarities in types of clothing there are! Why not help us compare clothing and fashion in our own lives? Miss Amin has set us the challenge of looking at any old family photos we have and comparing what people wore many years ago compared to what we wear today!

On the morning of the 7^th July, years 2-5 will be taking part in a really exciting project called Dance for Rights. Along with thousands of other children, we will be joining in with this nationwide dance event, livestreamed from the Royal Opera House, to celebrate children's rights.
