Day 5 STEAM week: fabulous Pfizer!

What a wonderful way to end STEAM week 2026! Team Amin-McCurry's morning started with... making snow! We really enjoyed adding water to a super-absorbent polymer to make our favourite winter wonder.... especially because we got to play with it after!

After this, we got up close with creatures and studied their appearance with magnifying glasses. We enjoyed sharing our knowledge with each other and spotting interesting features on grasshoppers, cicadas, emerald borers, scorpions and many more!

After break, we tasted (and broke) a rainbow, learning about the colours of the visible spectrum and what light actually is.

Finally, we made lava lamps and explored how water and oil do not mix! Nothing beats using some interesting science equipment at school though!

Top tip: add half of a vitamin or denture tablet into our lava lamps to observe a fascinating reaction take place!
