Into the Forest - Team Hayzelden

This week in English we have been reading our book 'Into the Forest' by Anthony Browne. We loved looking at the pictures and finding clues and links to popular fairy tales, like Red Hiding Hood's coat and the pumpkin from Cinderella. I was so impressed with the children's observations and the inferences they were beginning to make from these!

We also explored the character of the narrator, thinking about his feelings during the storm at the beginning of the book. We had so much fun using musical instruments to recreate the sounds of a storm, before creating a piece of stormy artwork and adding adjectives to describe how the boy might have felt during the storm. 

Finally, to finish off our analysis of the book, we created short pieces of drama to retell the story. Each group renacted a different part of the story and the rest of the class guessed which part they were reenacting.
