Yr 4 Egyptian Day

Please enter an introduction for your blog post here.

To help us get into the spirit of our new topic, we invite children to come to school dressed in clothing or a costume linked to Egypt. Costumes can be inspired by Ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses, pharaohs, cats, mummies, explorers, or even modern-day holidaymakers visiting Egypt.

Please don’t feel any pressure to buy anything new. Simple homemade costumes can be just as effective. Below are some easy, low-cost ideas:

  • Pharaoh or Queen:
A plain white T-shirt or pillowcase worn as a tunic, a gold or coloured belt, and a homemade collar made from card and pens. Add a striped paper headpiece if you wish.

  • Egyptian Citizen:
A long white T-shirt, fabric belt, and a cardboard collar decorated with bright patterns.

  • Mummy:
Use old white fabric strips or bandages over light-coloured clothing (comfortable and breathable).

  • Egyptian Cat:
Black clothing with a simple paper or card collar, and optional cat ears made from a headband and card triangles.

  • Explorer/Archaeologist:
Shorts/khakis, a shirt, a sunhat, and a homemade “archaeologist” badge.

  • Tourist to Egypt:
Bright clothing, a sunhat, sunglasses, and a small bag or camera prop.
