Beat the Flood and GloGerm

We had an amazing Year 4 Glo Germ workshop today with Dr Hollie Burrell-Saward! She studies microbes and told us all about her research while showing us how germs spread. Using a safe glowing gel and a UV light, we could see exactly where germs hide on our hands and around the classroom. The children were fascinated to see which spots they missed when washing their hands and how quickly germs spread around a classroom. It was fun, hands-on, and a brilliant way to see science in action!

We had an amazing day building flood-proof buildings. Team O worked in groups to design and test mini-structures that could survive rising water. We had to think like engineers, solve problems, and get creative with our materials. It was hands-on, fun, and a great way to see teamwork and planning in action — and we all learnt so much about keeping buildings and communities safe from floods!
