GlowGerms!

Today the children took part in an exciting and informative GlowGerms workshop, where they learned all about microbes and the important role hygiene plays in keeping us healthy.
During the session, pupils discovered that microbes are tiny organisms that we cannot see but that live all around us. Using GlowGerms, the children carried out practical experiments to see how germs can spread through touch and shared surfaces. This hands-on activity helped them understand just how easily microbes can be transferred without us even realising.
One of the highlights was using UV light to reveal the GlowGerms on hands and objects. The children were fascinated to see where the “germs” had spread and quickly understood why thorough handwashing is so important. They then tested different handwashing techniques to see which were most effective at removing the GlowGerms.
The workshop was highly engaging and sparked lots of thoughtful discussion and questions. The children showed great curiosity and enthusiasm throughout, developing their scientific understanding in a fun and memorable way.
It was a brilliant session that reinforced key messages about hygiene and health, while allowing the children to learn through investigation and experimentation.
