Mock SATS Week

The first half of this week was dominated by our first set of mock SATS...

As already mentioned, there were two main purposes of the children sitting these past papers (the actual SATS papers sat by year 6 pupils back in May).

Firstly, the more often children are exposed to something, the less 'unfamiliar' and 'scary' it becomes. Consequently, when the pupils sit their real tests in term 5, some of the stress and fear-factor will hopefully be diminished.

Secondly, it gives the staff team an idea of potential gaps, who may need additional support and what interventions to put in place to give everyone the best chance of success.

In class, I have tried to make clear that these are end of year tests, so there is no expectation on the pupils to be passing them yet. At the beginning of next week, I will be trying to take pupils out to have a one-to-one chat with them about their results and any relevant feedback.
