I am learning to subtract.
This week we have continued to practise our subtraction by counting back skills. We have practised counting back from 20 and most of us are now counting back from the largest number to answer a calculation. Some of us have also started working on word problems. We have drawn images to help with our understanding of the problem and we then worked out the answer as a group.
I am learning to throw with control.
Continuing with our sports day practise, the children have worked on throwing a ball or bean bag with control and accuracy. They have thrown to their partner and have also thrown into a hoop so that they can keep count of a score. We have also practised some of our team races.
I am learning to compare the past and present.
This week we have looked at what people wore on the beach in Victorian times, and compared this to what we wear now. The children wrote a list of adjectives to describe both.
Look at our amazing adjectives we have used.
We have been learning how to take away using different methods.
We have loved having Mr Russell teaching us drama and dance.

The Ocean
I am learning racing skills.
This week we started practising for sports day. We went up to the running track for the first time. We practised lots of different races: running, jumping and relay. We all had so much fun and the children were very proud of themselves.
This week we started our new topic 'The Ocean'. To start our topic off we have looked this week at the Earth. We have learnt lots of facts, drawn and made the Earth and we have written sentences about the things we have learnt. At home you could quiz your child about the facts they now know about the world.
I am learning to add.
This week we have gone back to rehearse our addition skills. We have counted on from the largest number and used resources as well as pictures to help us count accurately. Towards the end of the week we have looked at estimating and focused on making sensible predictions.
