    We had a fantastic time on our first school trip. Thank you to everyone that came and helped. We went on the walk to see what types of plants we could see, where they were growing and what they look like. We collected some of the wild plants we found. When we returned to school we made our very own perfume.

    I am learning to find half of an even number.

     

    We have been looking at the concept of half. We have taught the children to find half by sharing objects fairly between two. For example, give one to one person and one to another and repeat this process until the objects are all gone. The amount that one person has is half the total. You could practise this at home by asking your child to share their sweets with their sibling fairly.

    This week we have been learning about persitional language i.e. through, under, over, in, on etc.  We created an obsticle course to help us remember and pracitse these words and what they mean.

    I am learning to use describing words.

     

    This week we have been learning about the story of ‘The Gigantic Turnip’. Children have been looking at a scene from the story and trying to use exciting and interesting words to describe it. We have also used our senses to describe a what a turnip looks, feels and smells like. This has helped us with our writing.

    I am learning to recognise and describe 3D shapes.

     

    We have spent our first short week back recapping our knowledge of 3D shapes. We have used new vocabulary such as edges and faces to describe what the shapes look like and we have also looked at the 2D shapes that make up a 3D shape.

    I am learning to recognise and order numbers.

     

    This week the children have recapped their knowledge of teens numbers. They have practised writing and recognising the numbers and we have also learnt about how teens numbers are made of two parts; tens and units. We have used resources to make and represent numbers. We have also counted in 10s this week.

We have been looking after the plants we have brought in as well as planting some new ones.

    This week has been a really fun packed week! We have enjoyed taking part in Autism Awareness Week and having a onsie day. We have also learnt about Easter and different Easter traditions. Thank you for all your help with making the Easter egg compitition a fantastic one, the range of ideas were amazing.

    I am learning to make amounts using 1p, 2p, and 5p coins.

     

    This week the children have been learning to recognise 1p, 2p, and 5p coins. We then began learning how to make different amounts using these coins. When counting with these coins if there was a 2p coin the children would tap the coin twice, a 5p coin the child would tap 5 times as they count in order to ensure they count the correct amount.
