I am learning to use some describing words in my writing.

This week we have been learning about ‘Supertato’, a book the children have loved. We made a wanted poster for the Evil Pea. The children had to think of words to describe the Evil Pea’s appearance and personality. You could have a go at home and making your own vegetable superhero or villain and label them with words to describe them.

I am learning to measure length.

Based on the story Supertato, we have learnt to use cubes as a way of measuring how long a vegetable is. We have also spoken about which vegetable is the  longest/shortest.

I am learning to read red words.

Red words are those words that the children cannot ‘sound out’. For example, if we said the sounds th-e and blended them together it doesn’t make the word ‘the’. Therefore, we have to memorise these words as a whole. You can do this by having the words on the fridge and asking the children to read them when they walk past, playing snap with the words or matching pairs. The words we have learnt so far are I, the, my, of, he, for and put.
