Finding more and less

This week in Maths we have been focussing on finding one more and one less. We have been using first, then, now number stories and practical resources. We know that when we find more we need to count on to find the answer and the number gets bigger and when we find one less we need to count backwards and the number gets smaller. We have been using tens frames and number lines with counters to help us visualise this. Our challenge is to ensure that we can automatically recall these facts. We became so good this week, we were able to record using numbers and mathematical symbols and we were even able to add and subtract more than one by counting on and back.
