Quill Soup

This week we have moved away from our RWI lessons and started looking at a core text. We have been learning about the Lion King this week and have taken part in many African inspired workshops. We found the text Quill Soup by well known author Alan Durant which is an adaptation of the folk tale Stone Soup. This charming version uses animals from Africa and is beautifully illustrated by Dale Blankenaar.  This text has an important message about sharing in it. We have read the text, re-created the text through drama, created our very own animals in the same style as the illustrations and had lots of fantastic discussions based around it too. We have loved exploring a book for an entire week!
