This week we have been re-capping number bonds to 10 and learning number bonds to 20. Your child can practise at home with 'Hit the Button'; a fun game to test their knowledge and improve their recall of these essential facts.
On Monday 18th October Year 2 will be making bug hotels. We'd like you to start collecting materials for the children to use in their constructions.
Today Year 2 looked for microhabitats in the school playground. We found lots of different kinds - grass, moss, leaves, logs, bits of wood and even bits of concrete. We talked about the conditions found in the microhabitats and whether they were dry or damp, cool or warm and dark or light. We also talked about the creatures that might live in each one. We spotted a few minibeasts: several different types of spider, a beetle and a ladybird.
This week we did some writing about beach habitats. We were so pleased with our efforts, we invited Mr Budge in to see our work. He was suitably impressed!

We found time to explore the books in our book corner and from our topic display today. It was a joy to see the children so excited by and engaged with books!
This term the children have been making art inspired by Wassily Kandinsky.
We'd like to invite parents and carers to an Open Art Session this Thursday, 30th September from 1pm -2pm.
During the session you can support the children with making some art and find out a bit more about what they have been learning.
Just a reminder that new spellings will go home on Friday for next week.

In Year 2 we've been learning about habitats around the world. We worked in groups to draw different habitats - savannah, ocean, desert and arctic - and then drew the animals that live there and labelled them.
