This year's Year 4 will be the first children to take the government's multiplication tables check. We are busy practising hard, but any extra learning you could do at home would be a great help. We are currently in the process of writing our spooky stories inspired by the short animation 'Francis'. We have been looking at how we can use 'show not tell' to describe how someone if feeling. Can you guess what emotion we worked on from the picture?
This week our spellings look at the 'k' sound when formed by the letters 'ch'.

As part of our topic, we have been starting to make simple circuits. We have discovered that for a bulb to light up, the circuit must be a complete loop, or 'circuit'. It must also contain a power source and have no gaps. We have also gone on to explore switches and will soon be putting our new-found knowledge to the test when we create toys involving an electric circuit.
This week we are looking at the letter string -ation.
Our spellings are: cancellation, explanation, separation, realisation, preparation, information, alteration, reservation, observation and sensation.
The test will be on Friday, as usual.

As part of our Environment Day, we made washing line sculptures using some of the old clothes the class had brought in for donation (we put them back afterwards!) Have a look at the pictures and see if you can tell which animals they are...
This term, our topic is called 'Our Electric World'. Inspired by the wax-resistance shelter drawings of Henry Moore during WWII, we used the same techniques in order to create pictures of lightning storms in an evening sky. See below for more attached pictures.
