Exploring Religions at RAPS

Understanding different faiths and beliefs in an important part of the wider education journey for children at Ramsgate Arts Primary.
The latest example of broadening religious education saw young pupils from Year 2 visit the Ark cultural space in Cliftonville to explore Jewish traditions inside a place of religious significance.
It gave them the chance to step into a real/deconsecrated synagogue, explore authentic Jewish artefacts, and revisit their classroom learning about Jewish traditions such as Passover.
The visit also encouraged creativity, with activities designed to engage the imagination such as making their own stained glass windows using acetate, inspired by those in the former synagogue building.
Assistant Head of School Kiki Amin is a Year 2 teacher. She said: “It really was a great opportunity for our pupils to connect with what they have already learnt and experience another religion in a meaningful way.”
Head of School Nick Budge added: “We always encourage our children to learn about a whole range of faiths, beliefs and cultures.
“The trip to Ark was a valuable learning experience for our children as part of their developing interest in RE and what it means in many different ways to many different people.”
