Drawn Together In Celebration of Art

Creative children at Ramsgate Arts Primary immersed themselves in The Big Draw, a pioneering visual literacy charity event dedicated to promoting drawing as a tool for wellbeing, creativity, and connection.
It celebrated one of the core school values – collaboration - through RAPS’ own theme ‘Drawn Together’ initiatives with pupils, families and teachers uniting to get creative and explore drawing in the most personal way possible.
Participants were guided through a series of fun and imaginative activities designed to spark creativity and teamwork. From The Cutting Technique – where people selected random words, turned them into short stories, and drew what they imagined – to You Draw, I Draw – where partners took turns adding to a shared picture – everyone embraced the joy of collaborative creativity.

Art teacher Kelly Smith is proud of the success of the event. She said: “It sparked lively conversations and inspiring drawings between children and their families. It also provided a valuable opportunity for teachers to take part in creative career professional development, allowing them to unwind and enjoy meaningful moments with their pupils.
“It was a really powerful way to engage in collaboration and mindfulness. We all have such busy lives, so it’s lovely to just sit with our children and bond over something as simple as drawing.
“The ideas from both children and adults were outstanding. I love seeing the imagination of our young people – nurturing that creativity is such an important life skill.
“Drawn Together truly captured the spirit of The Big Draw, reminding everyone that drawing is not just an art form, but a universal language that brings people together.”

The charity leads an inspiring global programme of advocacy and engagement and is the founder of The Big Draw Festival – the world’s largest celebration of drawing.
Ramsgate Arts Primary is part of the Viking Academy Trust with its partner schools Chilton Primary in Ramsgate and Upton Juniors in Broadstairs.
