    In guided reading the children have begun to explore the novel ‘Clockwork’ by Phillip Pullman. In particular, the focus has been on the language that has been used to describe the characters and settings, as well as to create atmosphere and tension.

    In their writing they have continued to develop sentence building techniques and have begun to look at recount writing ahead of a recount piece on Friday based on the trip to the Houses of Parliament. In the coming weeks the children will be using this visit to write campaign speeches for House captains, whilst exploring the key British value of democracy.
