Year 2 have started to read Meerkat Mail this week and are loving learning about meerkats! As we are going to be writing our own non-chronological reports in the form of a fact file this term, we have started to research facts about meerkats to use this week! Why not ask us if we can share our growing knowledge with you? After all, we are now the meerkat experts!
Year 2 have been working on some incredible storyboards and narrative retelling this week! We have even started to explore using a purple pen to edit. Tomorrow, we take on the challenge of being a teacher and checking and revising ourselves! What fun!
Today, we read the rest of our wonderful first core text of the year, 'The Snail and the Whale'. We then reordered the key events of the story into chronological order using time connectives such as ‘first’, ‘then’ and ‘after that’ to order each section of the story. In small groups, we acted out the key events of the story, and had a choice to narrate the story or act it out as each of the characters. This was lots of fun, and we were able to use our great drama skills to retell our narrative. Ask us all about it!
