As part of our study of fashion over time, we compared clothes from the past and present. We noticed the similarities and differences between what we wear in the 2020's and what people wore in the 1940's. We discussed how materials have changed with the invention of different machines and technology.
Please find attached this week's spellings! They will be handed out on Friday 20th June and will be tested the following Friday 27th June. They are all common exceptions words year 2 need to know by the end of the year!
On Friday, we explored how to find the whole using our knowledge of fractions and bar models. Though it was tricky at first, we showcased our resilience and broke down each question using visual aids and a step-by-step method and found it fun in the end! Maybe we could show you how to answer questions like this at home too!

Year 2 went on an exciting material hunt today around RAPS, giving us a chance to recall our learning about different materials from Year 1! We searched for everyday objects made from materials such as wood, plastic, metal, paper, fabric, and glass, and some of us even verbally classified the materials based on their properties! After recording our findings with our partners, Year 2 discussed why certain materials may be used over others for specific objects. The hunt was such fun! Ask us all about it!

This week, we have been learning about Sikhism! We have thought about the 5Ks, core values and about why Sikhs meditate. We know Sikhs meditate to feel close to God and have discussed how meditation helps people feel peaceful and calm inside. We also know meditating and taking deep breaths can help us with big emotions. Ask us all about it!
We paired up to read books in the classroom.
We learnt about how exercise can keep our minds and bodies healthy. Then we choreographed some dance routines to present to the class. Year 2 has some good moves!
