Letter features in English

Reading the book 'Street Child' raises a number of issues for discussion, one of which is the homelessness of many children in Victorian London - which inspired Dr. Barnardo to create his charity initially...

Sadly, this remains an issue for many people around the country today. As such, we intend to write some formal, persuasive letters to raise awareness of this desperate matter. In preparation for this, we looked at some examples of persuasive letters and identified the key features that we would need to include in our own - features such as formal language, emotive language, paragraphs, a clear introduction, etc.

In addition, we had a practise at utilising formal language, by taking letters written in a more informal tone and adapting them.
