Mountains!

See what we have learnt in topic today!
In topic today, we discussed the 5 main types of mountain formation.
We came up with actions to help us remember them and then matched up the types with examples, diagrams and definitions.
| Fold Mountains form when tectonic plates collide. The Earth ‘s surface pushes up to form the mountains. | Fault-block Mountains form when large cracks in the earth’s surface open up, where some rocks are pushed up and some pushed down. | Volcanic Mountains are formed when volcanoes erupt, and are made from layers of cooled ash and lava. | Dome Mountains are formed when magma is forced upwards, but cannot flow out, causing the land to bubble up like a balloon. | Plateau Mountains are formed when erosion occurs on the land, leaving deep valleys or gorges. |
